A recent test by Edmunds.com proved that using cruise control offers up to a 14-percent fuel savings. Cruise control smoothes the throttle, prevents needless surging and encourages a longer view of the road ahead. It should be noted; however, that cruise should always be off when driving steep or mountainous roads.
